THREE STEPS WITH HEARIT TO MAXIMIZE PERFORMANCE FOR YOUR SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM STEP ONE: We recommend that each clinician have a #530 Hearit SE SP-ED/BIL Package as this is a "standard bearer" for many of our school districts. This small group training application can accommodate up to four students, is cost-effective and can increase student proficiency by 30-50%. STEP TWO: For those students diagnosed with a learning disability, #500 Hearit SE can be prescribed for each student for classroom use and home study and can be used to read text aloud for improved sustained attention and comprehension. STEP THREE: In the classroom setting, students with learning disabilities can benefit from the use of the #550 Hearit SE Broadcaster & Trainer which facilitates optimal academic performance in the least restrictive environment.

HOW DOES HEARIT DIFFER FROM FM SYSTEMS? 1. Hearit raises specific frequencies in the voice/speech range to enhance the intelligibility of speech sounds, while FM systems raise all frequencies equally. 2. Hearit phonologic auditory tools allow the student to discriminate speech better for language processing and are used by the student independently from the teacher. 3. Hearit phonologic amplification tools are classified as durable medical equipment (DME). 4. Hearit phonologic amplification tools are versatile, allowing for a quick transition from individual to small group and/or classroom training settings. |

IDEA FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FUNDING SUMMARY A possible option for students eligible to receive Special Education services under IDEA involves amending the IDEA grant to request new equipment purchases. The amendment will include a "student specific" equipment request with supportinig statements of justification. This documentation is typically provided by the case manager (or involved team members) to the author/administrator of the grant for the District. The Hearit 30 day free trial program enables the clinician to evaluate the improvements of individual students through Hearit intervention. Our evaluation form enables the clinician or group to evaluate the student's improvements in several sub-categories of Auditory Perception, Speech and Behavioral Patterns. This can be used as part of the supporting documentation for funding requests. |
